Higher-Order Moment-Based Anomaly Detection

The identification of anomalies is a critical component operating complex, and possibly large-scale geo-graphically distributed cyber-physical systems. While designing anomaly detectors, it common to assume Gaussian noise models maintain tractability; however, this assumption can lead the actual false alarm rate being significantly higher than expected. Here we design distributionally robust threshold detection using finite fixed higher-order moments measure data such that guarantees be upper bounded by desired one. Further, bound states reachable through action stealthy attack identify trade-off between impact attacks cannot detected worst-case rate. Through numerical experiments, illustrate how knowledge results in tightened threshold, thereby restricting an attacker's potential impact.
